Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 19, 2026
The Field Church ("we", "us", "our") operates the Field Church mobile app
and the website at thefieldnola.com
(together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we
collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Who the App Is For
The Field Church app is a private directory and resource tool for members
of The Field Church in Mandeville, Louisiana. Access is restricted; accounts
are created by church administrators and cannot be self-registered.
Information We Collect
-
Account and directory information. Name, email address,
phone number, home address, household relationships, and optional profile
photo. This information is submitted by you or by a church administrator
on your behalf so that other members can contact you.
-
Authentication data. A hashed password and a secure
authentication token used to keep you signed in on your device.
-
Location (optional). If you grant permission, the app
uses your device location to show your position on the directory map and
to sort members by driving distance. Location data is used on-device
and is not transmitted to or stored on our servers.
-
Contacts (optional). If you grant permission and tap
"Import Contacts", the app reads your device contacts locally in order
to compare them against the church directory and write new or updated
entries back to your device. Your personal contacts are never uploaded
to our servers.
-
Basic server logs. Like most web services, our servers
record standard request metadata (IP address, timestamp, user agent,
requested URL) for security, debugging, and abuse prevention. These logs
are retained for a limited time and are not used to build advertising
profiles.
How We Use Information
- To operate the directory and allow members to contact one another.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To show church calendar events, documents, and other resources the church chooses to publish.
- To diagnose problems and improve the Service.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third
parties for advertising or marketing. Your directory information is visible
only to other authenticated members of The Field Church.
We use a small number of service providers to operate the Service,
including Heroku for application and database hosting, and Google Calendar
to display the church's public event calendar. These providers process
data only on our behalf and subject to their own privacy and security
commitments.
Data Retention
We retain your account and directory information for as long as you are a
member of the church or until you request its removal. Server logs are
retained for a limited period for operational purposes.
Your Choices
-
Permissions. You can grant or revoke location and
contacts permissions at any time from your device's system settings.
Denying these permissions will disable the related optional features
but will not prevent you from using the rest of the app.
-
Profile changes. You can update or correct your
directory information by contacting a church administrator.
-
Account deletion. To delete your account and associated
directory information, email us at the address below. We will process
your request within a reasonable time, subject to any legal retention
requirements.
Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your information, including
encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and token-based
authentication. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable
steps to safeguard your data.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly
collect personal information from children under 13. If a parent or
guardian believes their child has provided us with personal information,
please contact us so we can remove it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update
the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be
communicated through the app or by email.
